Salim Mehajer’s co-accused appear in court
FOUR of Salim Mehajer’s co-accused appeared on charges relating to a “staged” car crash today and one left hurling obscenities.
THERE have been angry scenes outside a Sydney court where four of Salim Mehajer’s co-accused appeared on charges relating to a “staged” car crash.
Mr Mehajer, 31, was supposed to face court last October but was involved in a car crash at Lidcombe, in Sydney’s west, when his white Mercedes SUV collided with another vehicle.
Police arrested Mr Mehajer and five others on January 23, charging him with perverting the course of justice and conspiracy to cheat and defraud in relation to the crash.
Officers alleged Mr Mehajer had engaged in a joint criminal enterprise with five others to set up the crash, and had conspired with his co-accused before and after the incident to provide a false account to an insurance company and others.
Four of the co-accused, all family members, appeared briefly in Burwood Local Court this morning charged with conspiring to cheat and defraud.
Michael Moufferrige, 28, his wife Nora Anne Bush, 32, his brother Elias Moufferrige, 30, and his sister-in-law Fakaha Ki Malinda Moufferrige, 31, had their matters adjourned until March 28,
Ms Bush ran from court screaming: “F**k off you dogs” to media while Michael Moufferrige denied knowing Mr Mehajer and told reporters he “wasn’t guilty”.
“I am not guilty,” he said.
The other two accused, Elias and Fakaha Moufferrige, refused to comment as they left court a short time later.
