Police are seeking an apprehended violence order against Fadi Ibrahim, brother of Sydney night-life figure John Ibrahim, on behalf of his longtime business partner.

Brothers Fadi and Sam Ibrahim appeared before Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday over AVOs sought by police for the protection of Benjamin Scott and three others.

Police are seeking AVOs against both men on behalf of Mr Scott’s mother and sister as well as ton behalf of his brother-in-law just in the case of Sam Ibrahim.

The brothers will be represented by high-profile criminal lawyer Gregory Goold when the matter returns to court on February 26 next year.

Magistrate Jennifer Atkinson told lawyer Julie Nguyen that the brothers would not be required to attend if they were legally represented on that day.

Police will file their documentation on January 15 and the defence on February 19, with Ms Atkinson remarking “no one is really working on these things over Christmas”.

Mr Scott was business partner with radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands in the making of a reality TV series.

Fadi narrowly avoided jail earlier this year after he pleaded guilty to possessing $600,000 suspected of being the proceeds of crime after a years-long court saga.

He was arrested alongside brother Michael in Dubai in August 2017 amid a multi-agency sting on illegal importation before later being extradited back to Australia.

Fadi, who wasn’t accused of being involved in the importation, was sentenced to 14 months in prison, which was wholly suspended, and a good behaviour order. Michael was jailed for more than two decades in 2020.

The court was told at the time Fadi had no knowledge of his brother’s “serious criminal activities” and did not know what he intended to do with the money, which his brother had given him as a loan repayment.
