Melissa Caddick’s husband’s fresh court battle over luxury beachside home

The husband of missing conwoman Melissa Caddick is objecting to liquidators selling off their luxury eastern suburbs home.

The husband of conwoman Melissa Caddick is objecting to liquidators selling the couple’s luxury beachside Sydney property as they seek to pay back some of her stolen millions, a court has been told.

For the second time in two days, Anthony Koletti appeared in court on Thursday as the fight to pay back the victims of Ms Caddick’s Ponzi scheme continues.

Ms Caddick disappeared the day after ASIC and the NSW Police raided her $6.2m Dover Heights home in November 2020.

The corporate watchdog says Ms Caddick misappropriated investor money to fund her lavish lifestyle, with investigators seizing luxury items including jewellery, watches, designer clothing and shoes.

Earlier this week, two cars owned by Ms Caddick’s company Mailver Pty Ltd were sold at auction, with a 2016 Audi R8 V10 selling for $295,000 and a 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA45 going for $66,250.

The liquidators are now seeking to sell off her Dover Heights home as well as a $2.5m Edgecliff penthouse bought for her parents in 2016.

The Federal Court was on Thursday told that the liquidators were also seeking to claim shares and money that had been found in bank accounts.

ASIC says it has discovered 74 investors who were fleeced by Ms Caddick of $23m.

The liquidators have also applied to the Federal Court to allow them to access both properties.

Mr Koletti, 39, told Justice Brigitte Markovic he would oppose any application to access the Dover Heights home where he still lives, saying he couldn’t afford to take time off work.

“I disagree to the access because they’ve been in numerous times – probably five, six, seven, eight times,” Mr Koletti, who represented himself, told the court via audiovisual link.

“I just don’t see the point at this point in time and I don’t have the time. I need to make all the money that I can.”

Barrister Steven Golledge, representing the receivers, said an affidavit from liquidator Bruce Gleeson had been provided to the court spelling out why liquidators needed access.

The matter will now return to court for a hearing later in the year.

Ms Caddick’s decomposed foot was found on a beach near Tathra on the NSW south coast more than three months after her disappearance.

The Federal Court previously found that Ms Caddick operated Maliver without holding an Australian Financial Services licence.

The court was also told on Thursday that Ms Caddick’s brother Adam Grimley is seeking to claim a stake in the Edgecliff property.

Mr Koletti appeared in Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday to answer an apprehended violence order taken out on behalf of an investigator.

Police earlier this month sought an AVO against Mr Koletti to protect Isabella Allen, who is heading up the ASIC investigation.

Mr Koletti told the Downing Centre Local Court he would contest the AVO and the matter will return to court next month.
