Mirvac executive from ritzy suburb accused of Sydney taxi heist
A man from Sydney’s exclusive eastern suburbs has denied threatening a taxi driver and stealing his car while drunk in the city.
A resident of Sydney’s picturesque eastern suburbs will fight allegations he threatened a taxi driver and stole his work vehicle during a wild night out in the city.
Mirvac executive Brett Henson, 42, appeared in Sydney Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday after being charged with stealing the vehicle and driving it recklessly while under the influence of alcohol.
Police claim the Bronte resident damaged a silver taxi on Hunter St in Sydney’s CBD and threatened a 52-year-old taxi driver on Hunter St in Sydney’s CBD just before 9pm on November 4.
He then allegedly stole the vehicle and drove recklessly away from the scene while drunk.
Police confirmed the cab was recovered with “significant damage” from Woollahra, one of Sydney’s most exclusive suburbs.
Mr Henson was charged after police shared CCTV images of a man they wanted to speak with in relation to the alleged taxi theft in a public appeal for information.
The 42-year-old has been charged with take and drive conveyance without the owner’s consent, driving recklessly or furiously or in a dangerous speed or manner, and driving under the influence of alcohol.
On Wednesday, his lawyer Paul McGirr entered pleas of not guilty for all three charges.
Mr Henson will return to court next year.
