Man charged over alleged detainment, assault of girl, 14, in Sydney’s west
Police allege a 14-year-old girl was detained, drugged and physically and sexually assaulted during a horrific ordeal in western Sydney.
A man has been charged following an investigation into the alleged detainment, drugging and sexual assault of a teenage girl in Sydney’s west earlier this year.
Police allege a 14-year-old girl was driven to a hotel in Parramatta in July and plied with drugs including ice and GHB.
She was later allegedly taken to a Greenacre property where she was allegedly physically and sexually assaulted.
Police will allege in court the ordeal took place over several hours after the girl was first detained by a man and woman known to her.
Murat Kopuz was arrested during a vehicle stop in Ryde on Tuesday morning, during which police allegedly found methylamphetamine in his possession.
He was charged with take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, steal from the person value less than $2000, and three counts of supply prohibited drug.
Police have not charged him with any sexual offences.
Mr Kopuz was refused bail to on Wednesday face Hornsby Local Court, where he made no release application.
He will be remanded in custody and is next set to appear in court on December 1.
The 39-year-old’s arrest comes after Elham Naaman, 24, was arrested over her role in the incident last week.
Police allege Ms Naaman was the woman who drove the girl to the Parramatta hotel in June.
She was arrested in Berkshire Park on October 3 and charged with kidnap in company with intent serious indictable offence occasion actual bodily harm, supply prohibited drug, steal from person, intimidation and damage property by fire with intent to injure.
Ms Naaman was refused bail and last appeared before Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday.
She was also not charged with sexual offences in relation to the incident.
Investigations under Strike Force Tumbridge are continuing, and further arrests are expected.
