The brother of a prominent Sydney socialite and real estate agent will soon be sentenced for possessing GHB and crystal meth after court documents reveal he refused to co-operate with a police search.

According to agreed facts tendered to court, police were patrolling the gaming room inside the Colombian Hotel in Darlinghurst about 2am on May 22, when they approached and spoke to Jared Ginsberg.

When police asked for ID documents, he “became agitated” and asked police why they were talking to him, growing their suspicions.

Ginsberg eventually agreed to talk to police outside the hotel and showed them his ID.

“Police conducted relevant checks which revealed recent drug related matters,” the facts read.

“The accused stated he currently had no prohibited drugs (on him).”

The facts state Ginsberg was informed a “general search was to be conducted”.

“Police asked for co-operation from the accused to which he refused,” they stated.

Once the officers called in their supervisor to explain the situation, he complied and admitted there were drugs inside his bum bag.

“There’s a little bit of ice in there and some G,” the facts state he told police.

He declined an interview with police.

According to court records, Ginsberg pleaded guilty to two counts of drug possession on May 22.

On Monday, he appeared at Downing Centre Local Court, where his sentence was adjourned until July 3.
