An Instagram-famous bodybuilder and fitness label founder had earned more than $100,000 on OnlyFans when he was forced to apply for a disability pension after he was injured in a vicious brawl, a court has heard.
Clinton Chadwick is suing Bondi Beach Foods, the owners of the now-defunct bar The Bucket List, for failing to prevent the assault which knocked him unconscious.
On Monday, the NSW Supreme Court heard Mr Chadwick was at the beachfront venue on December 22, 2017 when he became involved in an altercation with Stephen Martin.
Surveillance footage from the Bondi bar showed Mr Martin was seated at a table in the front area when Mr Chadwick approached him and was being “offensive”.
“He was being rude and I said, ‘Let’s go outside and sort it out then,’” Mr Martin told the court.
The CCTV footage reveals he was shoved by Mr Chadwick before he picked up a plastic jug and threw it forcefully onto the ground.
Another man put two hands on Mr Martin and pushed him back a few paces before Mr Chadwick swung a fist at his face, which missed.
As the tattooed social media influencer moved past after missing his punch, Mr Martin grabbed a metal stool and hit him with it.
The footage shows the attacker slamming the metal chair down, rearing it back to his head, and then delivering a second blow.
The court previously heard Mr Chadwick was knocked unconscious by the assault, which he claimed has left him with ongoing physical and mental ailments.
Mr Martin told the court he and his friends had been “kicked out” of a previous establishment before they arrived at The Bucket List.
The court heard one of his friends was drunkenly falling over while inside The Bucket List.
He admitted he couldn’t remember how many drinks he’d consumed before he got to the bar but said he’d drunk at least five litres of beer.
Mr Martin was convicted and jailed over the assault, the court was told.
However, Mr Chadwick blames the bar for breaching its duty of care by not preventing the brawl.
The Instagram influencer is suing the bar for payment for medical bills, past and future economic loss and compensation for his physical injuries as a result of the violent brawl.
His mother told the court her son has been “struggling” since he was injured and that she has been forced to work two jobs to be able to assist him financially.
She said Mr Chadwick, who boasted more than 425,000 followers in his prime “used to be huge in social media” but his success was behind him.
The court heard the tattooed bodybuilder applied for the disability pension a few years ago due to his “on and off” illness.
At the time of his application, the court was told Mr Chadwick had raked in more than $100,000 through the subscription-based content platform OnlyFans.
The platform is known for hosting risque photographs and videos for a fee.
He also made an estimated $30,000 when he sold a third of his newly established company Chadwick Media, the court heard.
It was revealed in court the social media star is in the process of planning a trip to Greece for a photo shoot related to the burgeoning company.
The court was told Mr Chadwick had also considered a raft of other business opportunities, including a restaurant for which he had obtained a deposit.
The hearing continues before Justice Michael Elkaim SC on Tuesday.
