Father of alleged driver accused of covering up horror Heckenberg crash

The father of a man charged with causing the death of two siblings in a horror fatal crash is accused of hindering the police investigation.

The father of a man accused of being behind the wheel during a horror crash in Sydney’s southwest has appeared in court for the first time after he was charged with hindering the police investigation.

Kagadour Kokozian, 61, appeared briefly at Liverpool Local Court on Thursday after being charged following a fatal crash at Heckenberg in southwestern Sydney earlier this year.

He was arrested at his Cartwright home in September and charged with concealing an indictable offence and hindering an investigation in relation to the crash.

Police allege that Mr Kokozian’s son, Johnson Kokozian, 20, was in the driver’s seat of a Mercedes when it collided head-on with a Toyota Echo shortly after 9pm on September 1.

Johnson Kokozian was charged with two counts of dangerous driving occasion death, failing to assist after a fatal crash, negligent driving occasioning death and driving while disqualified.

Kagadour Kokozian appeared in court briefly on Thursday and was represented by paralegal Imad Elfawal.

Mr Kokozian was dressed in a dark suit and walked with the aid of a walking stick.

The matter was adjourned to return to court in November.
