Garry Steven Davis, 29, was found to have injected the residents with large doses of insulin over a two-day period in October 2013.
In the NSW Supreme Court in Newcastle on Tuesday, Justice Robert Allan Hulme referred to the vulnerability of the victims, the extreme breach of trust by Davis and the tragic and extreme consequences of his conduct.
The incidents occurred at SummitCare Nursing Home, Wallsend.
