Ex-nursing home worker jailed for murders

A FORMER Newcastle nursing-home worker has been jailed for at least 30 years for murdering two residents and attempting to murder a third.

Garry Steven Davis, who worked at SummitCare Nursing Home, Wallsend, murdered two aged care facility residents and the alleged attempted murder of a third.

Garry Steven Davis, 29, was found to have injected the residents with large doses of insulin over a two-day period in October 2013.

In the NSW Supreme Court in Newcastle on Tuesday, Justice Robert Allan Hulme referred to the vulnerability of the victims, the extreme breach of trust by Davis and the tragic and extreme consequences of his conduct.

The incidents occurred at SummitCare Nursing Home, Wallsend.
