A MAN accused of killing a heavily pregnant woman and her 17-year-old relative in a catastrophic crash in Sydney’s west will seek to walk free on bail, a court has heard.

In Penrith Local Court on Thursday, Richard Moananu’s lawyer Sarah Ha’angana said a bail release application for her client would be made on October 19.

Katherine’s husband Bronco Hoang, 25, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, was taken to hospital where he is fighting for life. He is unaware the teen driver of the car, his wife and expectant sons have died.

A NSW Police spokesman on Monday said they were getting advice about taking legal action over the deaths of the unborn babies.

Sources close to the investigation told The Daily Telegraph that police could lay further charges over the death of the unborn babies after a post mortem, but “it is a grey area of the law”.

The source said: “It depends whether the unborn twins are classed as foetuses or children”.

Tributes have been pouring in at the crash site for the Hoang family.

Among them: notes written by children, four timber crosses, a garden path light, twin stuffed toys and an array of floral bouquets.

One note written by a child reads “Rest in peace”.

A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family. More than $39,500 has already been raised by more than 700 people.
