Police have taken out a court order to protect a person against a man accused of murdering his ex-partner inside her own home while a young child was inside.

Last month, Danny Zayat was charged with the murder of 34-year-old Tatiana Dokhotaru, whose body was found in an apartment in the Sydney suburb of Liverpool about 8pm on May 27.

Police claim the alleged murder was domestic violence-related, and that 28-year-old Zayat assaulted Ms Dokhotaru until she died.

They earlier revealed Ms Dokhotaru made a triple-0 phone call just before midnight the night before her body was found — a call which ended abruptly.

Zayat was previously charged with 22 domestic violence offences against her, including choking without consent, breaching an AVO, assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault and destroying or damaging property.

He was bailed over those charges in the NSW Supreme Court in July before he was arrested and charged with murder on August 28.

At a brief mention of the matters at Campbelltown Local Court on Wednesday, a police prosecutor told Magistrate Susan McGowan said there was an Apprehended Violence Order taken out to protect an unnamed person from Zayat, who remains in custody.

The alleged murder and domestic violence charges were adjourned six weeks for the briefs to be served.

Court documents allege Ms Dokhotaru was killed between 11.36pm on May 26 and 8pm the following evening.

Police earlier revealed a child inside the apartment at the time of the alleged murder, and was there until emergency services arrived the next day.

Last month, police said they were looking for a mobile phone they allege was owned by Ms Dokhotary and was thrown off her 22nd floor apartment the night before her body was found.

They released CCTV footage of the apartment building from the night in question, hoping someone may have recovered the phone, which could shed some light into what happened before her death.

In the wake of charging Zayat with murder, detectives travelled to Canada — where Ms Dokhotaru’s family is from — to interview her loved ones and paint a picture of her life before her tragic death.

Separately to the criminal investigation, a critical incident investigation into all other circumstances surrounding Ms Dokhotaru’s death, including the police response to her triple-zero call, is ongoing.
