Bizarre moment which led to alleged bikie’s arrest
A chance moment at a shopping centre led to the arrest of an alleged bikie wanted on an outstanding warrant.
An alleged bikie wanted on an outstanding warrant has been arrested after being spotted at a Central Coast shopping centre by an off-duty police officer.
The 24-year-old was arrested on Friday and remanded in custody to appear before Newcastle Local Court on a string of charges.
Police allege that the man is a member of the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang and that he failed to appear before Mt Druitt Local Court earlier this week.
He was due to appear in court over an alleged pursuit with police and traffic matters and when he did not appear, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Four days after he failed to appear, he was allegedly spotted at a Bateau Bay shopping centre by an off-duty police officer, who called in the sighting to colleagues.
The man was arrested by members of Raptor squad, the NSW Police anti-gang squad.
During the arrest police seized what they alleged was a bottle of GBH, mobile phones and cash.
He was charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period and failing to stop during a police pursuit and ordered to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Saturday.
