Community shattered after doctor Eza Lau’s tragic death
A beloved Sydney doctor and mother has tragically been found dead, two days after finishing a shift and going missing.
A beloved Sydney doctor who vanished after clocking off work at a medical centre on Sunday has been found dead.
The body of 36-year-old Dr Eza Lau, a popular GP who worked in suburban Sydney, was found at Huntleys Point about 10pm Tuesday.
She was reported missing to police on Sunday night where she was last seen leaving the Myhealth centre at Top Ryde shopping centre in a black BMW about 4pm.
NSW Police said Dr Lau’s death was not suspicious.
Before her body was found, her husband Paolo said her disappearance was out of character.
“She has never done anything like this before,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.
“It is totally random. I have absolutely no clue.”
Paolo and Dr Lau were reportedly together for eight years, married for four, and have a three-and-a-half year old daughter.
Paolo said his wife’s work kept her “very, very busy”.

Dr Lau worked as a GP at Myhealth Top Ryde.
She completed her medical degree at Melbourne University in 2010 and underwent postgraduate training at Blacktown and Westmead Hospitals.
According to her doctor bio, she eventually chose to specialise in general practice after being “inspired” by a group of GPs in Cowra NSW.
Her bio said she enjoyed cooking, piano playing, and origami in her free time.
Ryde locals took to social media to express their grief.
“So sad, she was a wonderful GP, so giving and caring,” one wrote.
“RIP to your beautiful soul. If only you knew how much you were loved and that there was always a way out and people to turn to,” another wrote.
