Large numbers of people have again swarmed on Bondi, as NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said she was stressed about people not wearings masks when they needed to.

Large numbers of people were seen along Bondi foreshore as NSW recorded 16 new local transmission cases overnight with 13 of those in isolation.

Ms Berejiklian said it was imperative that people did not leave home but if they did they needed to wear a mask unless exercising.

“So we say to everybody, stay at home means stay and home,” Ms Berejiklian told reporters on Sunday.

“Only leave the house for exercise, only leave the house when you absolutely have to and please don't go visiting each other because that's how the virus spreads.

“If you're outdoor exercising you do not need to wear a mask, but if you're out in social contact, if you can't maintain social distancing absolutely (you need to wear a mask).

“It really stresses me out when we hear examples of businesses not doing the right (thing), of individuals not wearing masks when they need to. ”

Outside Gusto Espresso on Sunday morning crowds were not wearing masks as they milled on the footpath for their early morning caffeine hit.

At Bondi Beach, people strolled along the Bondi to Coogee foreshore with coffee’s hand.

Bondi has dozens of “venues of concern” listed by NSW Health, including 20 on the “close contacts” list.

Ms Berejiklian warned of further spreading and new cases if people did not follow health advice and wear masks when unable to social distance or being out in public.

“I do say, cautiously, that could still bounce around and we have seen in the last few days how easy is for people to unintentionally do the wrong thing or intentionally do the wrong thing and that can result in more cases which is something we don't want to see,” she said.

“We need to make sure people don't give in and don’t break those rules we have put in place, they are there for a reason.

“We would much prefer you to go outdoors in Covid safe way … but just be responsible ... and when you are exercising to keep a good social distance from everybody else.”

NSW chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant said people needed to be careful when exercising.

“Keep away from others, we don't want any crossover between households,” she said.
