Clue that revealed ‘suspicious’ death of sisters in Sydney unit

The crucial moment that led to the grisly discovery of the bodies of two young sisters inside a Sydney unit has been revealed.

The deaths of two sisters aged in their 20s have been deemed suspicious after they were found inside a unit in Sydney’s southwest.

It has been revealed a building manager raised the alarm after noticing a build up of mail and parcels at their front door.

A concern for welfare was then raised with authorities.

Officers were called to the flat in Canterbury at about 9.30am on Tuesday after staff from a government agency attended the residence and located the bodies inside separate bedrooms.

There were no signs of forced entry to the Canterbury Road residence. However, police have now deemed the two women’s deaths to be suspicious.

Police believe the women were sisters aged 23 and 24 years old, though they have yet to be formally identified.

Homicide and forensics officers were working at the unit late on Tuesday night and have seized several items.

Early examinations of the bodies have found no signs of injury.

Local resident Alan H told The Daily Telegraph: “It’s usually a pretty tame area so it’s pretty concerning to hear about something like this.”

A post-mortem examination will be conducted.

“It’s always a very tragic scene when we go to any deceased person's home, let alone when it is two sisters,” Detective Inspector Claudia Allcroft told reporters on Wednesday.

“It’s a very sad circumstance and we hope to find answers to our questions.”
