Boat accident on NSW Central Coast leads to haul of over 1000 ecstasy pills
A SOGGY skipper has inadvertently led police to a battered boat full of ecstasy pills worth more than $35,000.
A BOAT accident has led police to a major drug bust after $35,000 worth of ecstasy tablets were seized at Mannering Park on the shores of Lake Macquarie on the NSW Central Coast.
Tuggerah Lakes police responded to reports of a man who had fallen from a boat on Lake Macquarie at 9.40am on Monday morning.
When they investigated, officers found a wet man walking near a boat ramp at Mannering Park.
The NSW Government’s Roads and Maritime Services located the vessel and towed it to police waiting at the boat ramp.
The boat was searched with officers alleging more than 1600 tablets of MDMA (ecstasy) with an estimated street value of $35,000, 15g of cannabis and drug paraphernalia were seized.
The 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station. He was charged with supplying a greater than commercial quantity of prohibited drugs and two counts of possession of a prohibited drug.
