Two men charged with murder after alleged stabbing death of man in shopping centre carpark

Two men are on murder charges after a man was allegedly stabbed to death in a shopping centre carpark.

Two men have been charged with murder after a young man was allegedly attacked and stabbed in a Northern Territory shopping centre carpark.

The 20-year-old male died on arrival at Royal Darwin Hospital on Wednesday night.

Two men are alleged to have jumped out of a vehicle and attacked him at Karama Shopping Plaza in Darwin.

Detective Senior Sergeant Jakson Evans said the victim was with friends when a “dark SUV” pulled up in the carpark.

“One of the males from the SUV (allegedly) stabbed the victim a number of times,“ Sergeant Evans told reporters.

“The victim was able to run away and both males left the area.”

Shopping centre security guards alerted St John Ambulance, who treated the man.

The 20-year-old victim was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition but was “pronounced deceased upon arrival”, police said.

He said one of the two men allegedly involved in the stabbing death of the 20-year-old was also involved in a separate alleged stabbing of a woman at a residence.

“A 25-year-old victim suffered a number of other stab wounds,” Sergeant Evans said.

“The victims are not known to each other.”

The 25-year-old female was in hospital with stomach injuries and remained in a serious but stable condition, police said.

Police have charged a 26-year-old man with murder and attempted murder and a 20-year-old man is also facing a murder charge.

A crime scene has been as police investigate the circumstances of the death.
