A man, woman and baby have been found dead in a “horrific” incident in the Northern Territory.

Police were called to a property 25km north of Alice Springs on Sunday afternoon.

A 41-year-old man, a 40-year-old woman and an infant were found deceased at a house in the small community.

Police discovered a firearm at the scene and were treating it as a domestic violence incident, NT Police said.

“This was an horrific event, and our hearts go out to the family and community members affected by this tragedy,” Acting Commander Mark Grieve said.

He said there was no safety concern for residents in Alice Springs or the surrounding area and passed on his condolences to the family and friends.

“I can only imagine what kind of impact this will have upon this community. And it’s an impact that we’ll be working alongside them to try and overcome as best we can.”

Tributes and condolences have been flowing in the Northern Territory community, with friends and family posting to Facebook to share their shock and grief.

“My heart is broken, you called last night too having a laugh my sister. this is fked for real. this is fking shocking,” one person wrote said.
