Teenager charged with assaulting police officer in Alice Springs

A 15-year-old male has been charged after allegedly assaulting two people, including a police officer, at an Alice Springs shopping centre yesterday.

Police will allege the youth assaulted a 30-year-old woman and the officer who intervened after witnessing the incident at about midday.

Two other people were injured attempting to take the teen into custody.

The male was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, assaulting a member of the police force and resisting police.

He will appear in the Alice Springs Youth Court on August 8.
