A Northern Territory police officer is behind bars on remand after being charged with rape and other offences.
A Northern Territory police officer has been charged with rape and is behind bars on remand.
The 30-year-old male officer was charged with sexual intercourse without consent, choking, strangling or suffocating in a domestic relationship and aggravated assault.
He was taken into custody before he is set to appear before a Darwin court on Monday.
“The matter is under investigation by the Professional Standards and Domestic Violence Command,” NT Police said in a statement.
“As the matter is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.”
