A MAN suspected of drink driving crashed his ute into a power pole and was hospitalised with chest injuries.

Emergency services arrived at Pioneer Dr in Humpty Doo just after 11pm last night.

Territory Duty Superintendent Kylie Proctor said the 28-year-old driver of a Toyota Hilux veered off the road, hit a culvert and then a power pole.

“Police, fire and St Johns all attended, with the driver treated at the scene for chest pain before being cleared to submit to a roadside breath test which provided a positive result,” she said.

She said the driver was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

A sample of blood was taken to test for blood alcohol content.

The driver is likely to be summonsed for drink driving and other traffic offences.
