IT TAKES a brave woman to chop off her long locks, but for Amy Dienhoff, giving to charity made it worth it.
The mum-of-two went under the scissors on Saturday, raising almost $5000 for Variety — the Children’s Charity.
“I had really long hair and had wanted to chop it off for about a year,” she said.
“A friend of mine donated hers recently and I thought, there’s always someone who is fighting a battle with cancer or who has alopecia.”
Ms Dienhoff said the hardest part was watching her eldest daughter get upset.
“When my first ponytail got chopped off she started crying in the background, but after that she enjoyed the rest of the show sitting on my lap,” she said.
“Now she really likes it and keeps telling people that her mum gave her hair to little girls who had no hair because they were sick.”
The chopped locks will now go to making a wig for an appreciative child.
