A child has been killed and 10 other people have been injured in a shocking crash in the NT.
An eight-year-old child has been killed and 10 others injured in a horror crash.
Police allege alcohol was involved in the crash which took place about 11am Sunday in the Northern Territory.
A Toyota Prado carrying 11 passengers crashed on Mardiyardu Road, located between the northern towns of Kalkarindji and Lajamanu in the Northern Territory.
The vehicle was then allegedly driven back into Kalkarindji, where it was met by Care Flight teams.
NT Police confirmed the eight-year-old child was declared dead a short time later.
Police said a 29-year old woman who was allegedly driving the car and nine other occupants suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Two crime scenes were established, one at the crash site and a second at the vehicle.
Detective Senior Sergeant Richard Musgrave said due to the remote location of the crash, communications from the scene were limited.
“This is a complex crash involving alcohol and a large number of unrestrained passengers that has tragically resulted in the death of a young child,” he said.
“Local police are providing support to the families and local communities effected.”
