Kieran Loveridge, sentenced to jail for the bashing death of Thomas Kelly in Kings Cross in Sydney, has had his sentence increased to seven years after an appeal.
The four-year jail term given to Loveridge who killed teenager Thomas Kelly with a single punch last year was appealed against in the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal.
The Director of Public Prosecutions said last year he would challenge the sentence on the grounds it is “manifestly inadequate”.
Justice Stephen Campbell sentence Kieran Loveridge on November 4 to four years’ jail for his attack on Thomas Kelly. The sentence outraged Thomas’s parents who branded the decision “shocking” and “a joke”.
