FORMER cricketer Bronwyn Calver was riding her bike on Adelaide Ave in Canberra on Monday when a kangaroo decided to jump across the road just as she passed by.

The video, which she uploaded to YouTube on Monday entitled The Bush Capital: Roo v Cyclist, shows the speed at which she was riding and how quickly the kangaroo jumped from the bushes in front of her.

She escaped relatively unscathed according to her post with no broken bones “but a severely grazed and bruised elbow, grazed hip and eight stitches in my knee”.

She said the kangaroo in question hopped away, jumping a railing on Adelaide Ave down to State Circle, “where it was subsequently hit by a car and killed”.

She said four cars had stopped for her within seconds to offer their help.

“They introduced themselves to me at the time but I can’t remember their names to thank them personally.”
