Woman who rents from Anthony Albanese reveals what he's like as a landlord

A Sydney woman who recently went viral after revealing Anthony Albanese was her landlord has hit back at vicious trolls who have “fat shamed” her and targeted her business with “fake reviews”.

Tenant Chrissy Flanagan recently opened up about what it was like to rent from the potential next Prime Minister on TikTok, with the small business owner claiming the Labor leader reduced her rent by 25 per cent during the first Covid lockdown – and has left it at that price ever since.

“He’s just a good dude, he’s a really good dude,” the self-confessed “Albo superfan”, who owns a sausage restaurant in the city’s inner west, said in the video.

Since then, it has emerged that Ms Flanagan has a shrine for “hot Albo” in her restaurant, and that she also has a background working in communications for politicians and was a campaign assistant for the Australian Labor Party’s NSW Head Office when she finished university in 2003.

However, Ms Flanagan said she didn’t know she was going to rent her new home from Mr Albanese until she signed her lease and saw his name on the document, as she had been dealing with a real estate agent.

The Labor Party has also said it did not ask Ms Flanagan to put up the video.

Nevertheless, Ms Flanagan has been inundated by abuse in recent days – but she shared a defiant message for those hoping to bring her down in a new TikTok video.

“I’ve had tons of fake reviews on my restaurant,” she revealed in the fresh clip.

“Really, really nasty direct messages.

“There were attempts to fat shame me thrice in my 12-hour live sausage making live stream yesterday.

“Unfortunately I can’t be shamed about this junk in this trunk and if my pants were to split, you should be so f**king lucky.

“So I’m a bad b**ch, I’m a hot b**ch and nothing’s going to make me feel any different so absolutely nice try if you’re going to come for me on that.”

Ms Flanagan also claimed she had been told she “didn’t know how to make sausages” and that she “didn’t know what I’m doing in the kitchen” – and said the abuse was also flung at other women – both friends, acquaintances and total strangers – who stuck up for her in online comments.

“Women who have been standing up for me in the comments sections have been told to shut up and get back in the kitchen, and to them and to everyone who has stood up for me and has messaged me … it’s been like a big birthday but only in relation to a political scandal … anyway, my mother’s takeaway from this has been, ‘you’re going to kill yourself, you’re going too hard, you’re making life hard for yourself‘, and to my mother, I would say … you raised an ambitions woman, and it worked,” she said.

“I’ve got sh*t to do, I’m going to do my sh*t.”

She thanked Aussies who had sent messages of support, saying they had “meant everything” during the recent furore, and also issued a plea for help for removing fake negative reviews on Google.

She shared one example of a fake one-star review, which claimed her restaurant was “overpriced” with “rude service”.

Ms Flanagan also shared examples of the private, abusive messages she had received, with one social media user branding her a “lying piece of sh*t”.

“If you are the lying dog who is a Labor staffer, your business is finished,” another wrote.
