Furious pensioner clashes with Scott Morrison at a NSW pub

The pensioner who gave Scott Morrison a massive spray in a Newcastle pub has a surprising message for Anthony Albanese.

Former miner Ray Drury, 73, blasted the PM in front of a large contingent of media at the busy Edgeworth Tavern on Wednesday night.

“Listen to me for a change. You can have a million-dollar house, $250,000 in the bank and franking credits but a disability pensioner can’t have an income,” he told Mr Morrison.

“You’ve also been immigration Minister. I’ve got a partner I’ve been with for six-and-a-half years and I’ve got a right as an Australian to choose who my partner should be.”

It was later revealed the 73-year-old had contracted asbestosis and two benign tumours after working in the mines for 30 years.

And, the upcoming federal election would be the first time he would not be voting for Labor.

“I will vote for independents,” he told The Australian. “Scott Morrison, I wouldn’t vote for him, because I didn’t respect him, because if you want to respect someone, they’ve got to respect you back.

“And the same with the Labor Party, I’ve had three ministers … that I’ve wrote to and rang up; they just ignore you mate.”

Mr Drury said he wanted to vote for an independent candidate to “keep the bastards honest”. “I’m voting for an independent, I don’t care who it is.”

There are no independents running in Mr Drury’s electorate of Newcastle.

Another video from the pub on the night Mr Drury confronted the PM showed a woman, called Chantelle, appearing to line up to take a selfie with the Prime Minister.

However, as Mr Morrison looked toward the camera, she told him: “Congratulations on being the worst prime minister we’ve ever had.”

It all calmed down later on, with Mr Morrison seen chatting with families as they enjoyed dinner.
