‘Ooga booga’: ScoMo trolled by cavemen at Bunnings

Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s comments about Western Australians being ‘cave people’ have come back to bite him with some unwelcome visitors today.

Scott Morrison press conference

Protesters dressed as cavemen and carrying wooden bats arrived at a Bunnings store as the Prime Minister touched down in the marginal Perth electorate of Cowan on Easter Monday.

The men seemingly dressed in reference to the time Scott Morrison likened Western Australians to cave people in August last year.

The trio did not speak except to say “ooga booga” but nodded enthusiastically when asked if they’d prefer Anthony Albanese as Prime Minister.

When asked if they were happy with Scott Morrison’s treatment of Western Australians, they emphatically gestured ‘no’.

Police spoke to the three people but took no further action.

The Bunnings visit is Mr Morrison’s second appearance since touching down in Perth late on Sunday night.

The electorate, in the northern suburbs of Perth, is held by Labor’s Dr Anne Aly with a minuscule margin of 0.9 per cent.

Mr Morrison and Liberal candidate Vince Connelly met mum Nicole Rakitic and her son Azaia, 10, at the local store where the group shopped for plants for her new home.

Ms Rakitic used the government’s Home Owner Guarantee to purchase a three-bedroom house in Ballajura for $375,000.

The Prime Minister has announced an expansion of the scheme during his campaign trail.
