Most awkward photos of Scott Morrison and Bill Shorten during the 2019 election
Sit back and relax as we walk you through some of this election campaign’s most awkward photos starring Scott Morrison and Bill Shorten.
Spare a thought for prime ministerial candidates Bill Shorten and Scott Morrison — they’ve had snappers documenting their every move for the past 37 days, all in the name of scoring the nation’s top job.
Fancy having a camera on you while scoffing down a delicious scone, meeting a stranger’s baby who could burst into tears (and make you look like the devil) or being thrown into a sporting situation where you’d clearly not even make the bench?
Rejoice Australia — here we present all of the finest photographic fails from this election’s campaign trail.
FINEST SPORTING MOMENTS
Prime Minister Scott Morrison did his best to return serve from a kid during a visit to Manson Oval in Belview Heights, SA on Day 13 of the election campaign.
Oh, you want more photos? Coming right up:
Poor ScoMo, during the same school visit he was hit with all kinds of other classic Aussie sports:

NEW MATES
Prime Minister Scott Morrison met mullet wearing Jarrod Cirkle at the Bridgenorth Football Club in Tasmania. Morrison told his new buddy “That has the PM’s endorsement as the best mullet I have seen”, AAP reported.

CROWD PARTICIPATION
This fit group had their carpark exercise routine rudely interrupted by a visit from the PM, with photographers setting up the shot with them in the foreground:
JUST AN EVERYDAY GUY
This photo would have been far juicier if it was the kind of scene where my parents would (still) tell me to cover my eyes. PM’s gotta get his Game of Thrones fix too, y’know.
UNFRIENDLY LIGHTING
BILL SHORTEN
FINEST SPORTING MOMENT
While Scott Morrison gave a whole bunch of sports a go, Shorten stuck to his usual routine of jogging. This video below shows him really focusing hard on his form, perhaps a little too much:
