A Liberal-National Party candidate for the Senate who believes fat people should be banned from guzzling soft drinks also claims “illiterate” Aboriginal voters from Cape York are being driven around in buses by lefties to vote in elections.

Queenslander Nicole Tobin, who hails from Cairns, is a “passionate educator” who believes we can all change the world, one child at a time, through Kindermusik.

But it’s her views on the refined sugar bans for fat people to tackle the obesity crisis that are likely to spark debate.

In response to one social media post that suggested obese people “shouldn’t be able to purchase anything containing white sugar or refined flour”, Ms Tobin said she was on board.

“And no soft drink if your BMI is over 30 either,’’ Ms Tobin wrote.

“Water or one glass of red wine.”

Ms Tobin is running for the Senate in Queensland for the LNP but is in an unwinnable position at number six on the ticket, a position she also secured in 2019.

In an exclusive interview, the teacher also told news.com.au what overweight kids have in their lunch boxes and why boredom is driving obesity.

“You know, because I see young girls … not my daughter, she’s thin,’’ she told news.com.au.

“We’re probably blessed with great genes or something. We are busy people and we don’t get time to eat.

“But I know when I am bored, I will eat half a packet of Mint Slice biscuits.

“The next day, I won’t be touching anything, I will live on coffee for the day and have a decent dinner.”

Ms Tobin said as a teacher, she could always spot the lunch boxes of children who are overweight.

“I look at the lunch boxes of the children that are not making good choices and there’s a lot of packet food,’’ she said.

“And I know parents are busy. I’m not saying I never sent my children with packaged food, but the ones who consistently have packaged food are the ones that you know, they don’t always make the good choices.

“You’re finding Tiny Teddies. The little muffins that are made at Coles and Woolies.

“When there are rice crackers, you know, like, Sakata, they’ll be the flavoured ones.

“It’s entirely packaged food. A lot of the time.

“My children only drink soft drinks when they do cross country. I only drink soft drinks basically on polling day because I need sugar on those days.

“I do think that people’s doctors should definitely be saying to them, I’m sorry. You need to cut down on things. It’s that simple.”

LNP candidate Nicole Tobin has also made bold comments about obese Australians and suggested she can tell a child’s weight by what’s in their lunchbox.

Last year, in response to a Twitter post asking if people were confident the election result could be trusted, she said there were real concerns.

“I’ve seen it also within Leichhardt in the last decade, buses driving around usually illiterate people from the Cape around Cairns booths,’’ Ms Tobin said.

“Reported it to AEC booth supervisors and they phoned other relevant booth supervisors and stopped them voting.

“Duplicate voting by unscrupulous lefties driving around uneducated indigenous from booth to booth.”

“And I’m not saying the indigenous people were doing the wrong thing. They had been hoodwinked,’’ she told news.com.au.

Asked whether this was racist, Ms Tobin said it wasn’t at all.

“They are trusting, they are so trusting … our indigenous people. They’re being misled,’’ she said.
