‘Dangerous’: Prime Minister Scott Morrison slammed as election stunt backfires

Prime Minister Scott Morrison has been caught out in yet another election stunt fail, with countless Aussies slamming his latest risky act.

'Dangerous': PM's election stunt fail

Scott Morrison has gone viral on social media for all the wrong reasons after yet another worksite fail.

Last month, the Prime Minister paid a visit to a worksite on the election campaign trail, and decided to test some of the equipment after being granted permission to operate a mitre drop saw.

But a video of the stunt has since racked up almost 3 million views on TikTok, after Mr Morrison was filmed carrying out the potentially dangerous task without basic safety precautions.

In the clip, he can clearly be seen firing up the drop saw and cutting a piece of wood – while wearing a suit and a pair of glasses.

But tradies and everyday Aussies alike have pointed out that he should have been wearing special safety items such as a face mask, eye and hearing protection and regulation clothing.

The video sparked thousands of comments, with many Aussies blasting the “dangerous” and “risky” move.

“I thought for sure some finger tips would take flight,” one TikTok user posted, with another adding they were “surprised he didn’t cut his finger off”.

“It actually terrifies me watching him do this stuff,” another wrote.

Meanwhile, others took the opportunity to have a dig at the PM’s expense, with some blasting it as “another photo opportunity” while others joked that he was “doing a trial for his next job after the election”.

Of course, it’s not the first time Mr Morrison has made an awkward misstep at a worksite.

During a visit to Alice Springs in the Northern Territory earlier this year, the PM tried his hand at welding – but was caught on film lifting his face shield up while sparks flew just centimetres from his face.

The clip went viral, with Labor using it as a pitch for votes, saying “this is what happens when you take money from TAFE”.

In February, he hit back at critics of his welding, telling 2GB it was “not my day job”.

“If people want to have a crack me about that they can … I’ve got a lot to learn if I wanted to do those jobs,” he told the station.

“I just think our apprentices and the small businesses that are giving them a go are fantastic.

“And if all the narcs in the bubble want to have a crack at me, well, they can – but what I’m doing is showcasing the great work of our apprentices and small businesses.”

And earlier today, yet another controversy surrounding health and safety hit the father-of-two, after an innocent-seeming photo of his Sunday night curry dinner horrified voters.

Nice to have a night at home. So curry it is. Sri Lankan Tamarind Eggplant and Okra Curry and a classic Chicken Korma. Strong Curry. Strong Economy. Stronger Future.

Mr Morrison took a break from campaigning to enjoy a Sunday night meal with his family, sharing a snap of his chicken korma and a Sri Lankan eggplant dish on Facebook.

But within moments, social media users had pointed out that the chicken looked as if it were “still raw", with many claiming he was lucky to have avoided a hospital visit.
