NSW Police have applied for an apprehended violence order to protect 2013 Big Brother winner Tim Dormer, 34, after his car was allegedly damaged over the weekend.

Dormer’s ex-fiance Ashley Frazer Toweel, 31, was arrested by officers attached to the Inner West Police Area Command in Newtown and charged with destroy or damage property with a value of less than $2000.

Toweel, who split with Dormer in November last year after six years together, was taken to Newtown Police Station on Sunday evening where he was interviewed and later charged.

“About midnight (Sunday 24 January 2021), officers attached to Inner West Police Area Command were called to Mechanic Street, Newtown, following reports a parked vehicle had been damaged,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“Following inquiries, a 31-year-old man was arrested outside a business on King Street, Newtown, about 7pm that night before being taken to Newtown Police Station where he was charged with destroy or damage property,” the statement continued.

Toweel was granted strict conditional bail, including that he cannot contact or be with Dormer, who shot to fame in 2013 after winning $250,000 on the tenth season of Big Brother.

An apprehended violence order has been applied for by police on behalf of Dormer preventing Toweel from assaulting, harassing, threatening, stalking or intimidating him.

The order also states Toweel must not “intentionally or recklessly destroy or damage any property that belongs to or is in the possession” of Dormer.

Dormer, who works in the disability sector, revealed to fans in a lengthy Instagram post in November last year they had split, almost two years after becoming engaged.

“This week Ash and I have parted ways. My first ever love and long term relationship, 6 years now he has been my partner along this journey and I can’t believe the sadness of things not turning out the way I had dreamt,” the post read.

Toweel and Dormer would not comment on the matter when contacted on Monday.

The case will first be heard in Newtown Local Court on February 1.
