Police respond to incident at a high school in Perth’s northern suburbs

Police are attending a suburban secondary school after reports of a stabbing incident between two students.

A student has been injured during an incident at a high school in Perth’s northern suburbs.

Police were called to Carine Senior High School just after 10am Thursday after reports of a fight between two students, which forced the school into lockdown.

Two students, aged 15 and 16, were involved in the incident, in which one injured the other with “an edged weapon,” according to WA Police.

Their injuries aren’t life-threatening, and both students are in police custody while receiving medical attention in hospital.

It is unclear if the students involved were male or female, however, The West Australian newspaper reports a 15-year-old girl stabbed a 16-year-old boy at least twice in the back.

“No other persons were involved,” a WA Police spokesperson said.

“There is no threat to the school or the wider community, the situation is contained.

“The WA Police Force is working closely with the Department of Education to resolve some sensitive and complex issues involved with this incident.”

Mirrabooka detectives continue to investigate, and no charges have been laid at the time of writing.

The incident comes just a week before the end of the school year, with Term Four due to wrap up on December 15.

Carine SHS is located on the corner of Osmaston Rd and Everington St in Carine, about 14km north of Perth’s CBD.
