Police on scene after man was allegedly deliberately set alight in Southport this morning

AN 18-year-old man has been placed in an induced coma after he was allegedly doused in petrol and set alight on the Gold Coast.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred on Wardoo St at Southport about 7.45am yesterday.
The teenager tried to seek help by doorknocking residences in the area.
The dog squad searched Southport cemetery to look for an offender.
Police have asked anyone who may have seen or walked past the victim’s silver Toyota Camry with NSW numberplate BM 52 VZ on Baratta Street, Southport, to come forward with information.
The 18-year-old is understood to have sustained life threatening injuries after police allege he was drenched in petrol and set on fire.
He is currently being treated at Brisbane Royal Hospital.
The offender is on the run while police and other emergency services remain on scene at a Wardoo St address.
