Perth schoolteacher accused of filming female students

The 41-year-old is accused of inappropriately filming his students on four separate occasions during March.

A teacher accused of inappropriately filming female students has been granted bail.

Western Australian Police allege the 41-year-old filmed the girls on four separate occasions in March at a private school in Perth’s northeastern suburbs.

He appeared in Midland Magistrates Court on Wednesday, facing two counts of indecently recording a child on or over the age of 16, and two counts of indecently recording a child on or under the age of 16.

He appeared without legal representation but was accompanied by a relative, who was forced to remain in the public gallery.

The court was told the alleged offences occurred at the school on March 1, 3, 20 and 21.

The magistrate adjourned the matter for four weeks so the man could get legal advice, and his bail conditions were renewed on the same terms.

Outside court, the man and his relative made no comment to reporters waiting outside.

NCA NewsWire has decided to withhold the man’s name and the school with which he was employed at the time of the alleged offences in order to protect the identity of his alleged victims.

He’s due to reappear in the same Midland court on May 26.

The investigation into the alleged incident is ongoing, with detectives urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
