A 27-year-old man has been charged over the death of his partner in the Perth CBD.

The 24-year-old woman was found on Wellington St, near Pier St, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The pair had been socialising at Yagan Square with a group of people, with the alleged assault captured on CCTV cameras, police said.

“Police and St John Ambulance WA were called to the location just before 3am,” police said in a statement.

“Paramedics provided first aid to the woman but sadly she was unable to be revived.”

Police revealed on Friday that the man, from Newman, had since been charged with an unlawful act or omission with intent to harm (endangering life, health or safety of any person).

He is scheduled to face Perth Magistrates Court later on Friday.
