Intruder found eating roast lamb after breaking into Alice Springs home
A homeowner in Alice Springs was more puzzled than scared when an intruder made a strange move after breaking into a home overnight.
Northern Territory Police have warned residents to lock their doors these holidays after a homeowner in Alice Springs busted an intruder eating roast lamb in his kitchen.
Police were called to two separate residential break-ins overnight, with the first involving an intruder gaining entry to a property in the suburb of Gillen at about 1am.
Southern Watch Commander Adrian Kidney said the homeowner found the intruder, who entered through a rear window, having a midnight snack.
“They were interrupted by the owner who came out and found the offender in the kitchen eating roast lamb,” Commander Kidney told NT News.
“The owner chased the offender out the house through a back door and down the street however was unable to catch him.”
The other break-in that NT Police responded to in Alice Springs occurred at Braitling at about 10pm on Monday.
Intruders attempted to pry open the front door and, when they couldn’t, smashed a kitchen window to gain entry.
However, the house’s security alarm was set off, and the intruder then fled through the smashed window.
