Homicide police have charged a man with murder after a woman was found with serious injuries at a popular seaside area in a remote part of a state.

A man’s been charged with murder after a woman was found fatally injured on Christmas Day at a popular beach town on Western Australia’s Kimberley coast.

Police said the woman, aged in her 30s, was found with serious head injuries on Roe Place at Cable Beach, northeast of Broome, about 6pm on Monday.

She was given medical treatment at the scene, but died later in hospital as a result of her injuries.

A crime scene was established, with a man aged in his 30s taken into police custody for questioning.

On Wednesday, a 30-year-old man, known to the woman, was charged with murder.

He’s due to appear in Broome Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The incident comes just a month after a man was charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed a 27-year-old man known to him, also along Roe Place.

Cable Beach is located along the 22km stretch of white sand beach of the same name, and is a popular tourist spot in the remote Kimberley Region.
