THE parents of missing Chinese woman Qi Yu gave an emotional talk during a press conference as they begged the public to help locate their daughter.

“BOTH of us cannot sleep, every night my wife’s tears run dry.”

In an emotional press conference today, the distraught parents of missing Chinese woman Qi Yu have urged the public to release any information on the whereabouts of their daughter.

Her housemate, Shuo Dang, was charged with murdering her earlier this month.

“We are the parents of Qi, our daughter has been missing for 18 days we are very grieving (sic),” Mr Yu said. “Both of us cannot sleep, every night my wife’s tears run dry.”

Qi Yu’s grieving mother and father bravely faced the media and handed out “missing” posters of their daughter after the conference.

Detective Superintendent Kerrie-Anne Lewis said any information, no matter how small, “could be the piece of information that we are looking for and provide some assistance and closure for this family”.

“This process has been extremely difficult for Mr and Mrs Yu. It is terrible for a family to go through this and we really need the community support,” Supt Kerrie-Anne Lewis said at the conference.

Ms Yu, 28, disappeared nearly three weeks ago, with her body thought to be dumped in Sydney bushland.

She was last seen by friends at a Campsie share house in the city’s southwest on Friday, June 8, and detectives believe she was taken by car to the Berowra area on the night she went missing.

Her white Toyota Corolla was later found dumped in Burwood.

Ms Yu’s housemate, 19-year-old Shuo Dong, was arrested and charged with her murder several days later. Dozens of police and State Emergency Service officers have been searching bushland at Berowra over the past week for Ms Yu’s body.

Ms Yu’s mother and father have travelled to Sydney from China and, together with NSW Police, have urged anyone with information to come forward.

At the time of her disappearance, a neighbour who lives next door to Ms Yu told news.com.au the young woman was exceptionally quiet and a “kind” person.

The upset neighbour said she often wouldn’t see Ms Yu for weeks on end and, when she did, Ms Yu would simply bow her head and politely say “hello”.

The last time she saw her was three weeks before she disappeared.

However, she said it wasn’t surprising for a tenant in the complex of six joined houses to be this quiet.

Local resident Elsie Zhang told news.com.au that “everyone in Campsie is upset about it because she is so young, but I haven’t seen her around here before”.

“We hope she is found in the next few days,” she said.

The search continues. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Mr Dong is due to appear in Burwood Local Court on July 9.
