Child abuse police on manhunt after two kids allegedly approached in Perth

Police are hunting at least one man after two sexual incidents involving children in Perth’s southern suburbs.

Child Abuse Squad detectives are looking into whether two sexually indecent incidents in Perth’s southern suburbs are connected.

A man allegedly targeted an 11-year-old girl and 11-year-old boy during two separate incidents involving indecent exposure and a sexually inappropriate conversation earlier in April.

The incidents allegedly occurred a week apart in neighbouring suburbs.

WA Police are investigating whether two similar sexually inappropriate incidents six days apart in Perth's southern suburbs were committed by the same person.

The first alleged incident took place some time between 5pm and 6.30pm on April 14 on Waterperry Drive in Canning Vale.

A male riding a bike allegedly approached an 11-year-old boy and engaged the child in an inappropriate conversation of a sexual nature.

The male has been described as fair skinned, aged 16 to 20, with tattoos on his neck and wrist.

A week later on April 20, a similar incident allegedly occurred 7km away on Lakeside Drive in Thornlie.

Between 5.30pm and 6.30pm, an unknown male riding a bike approached an 11-year-old girl, before he allegedly exposed himself and engaged in an inappropriate conversation of a sexual nature.

In both instances the victims told their family, who alerted police.

The male in the second incident is described as fair skinned, and aged 17 to 18.

“Given the proximity of the incidents, the similar circumstances and similar description of the male person involved, it is being investigated whether the two incidents are linked,” a police spokesperson said.
