Mother of Tyrell Cobb, 4, to face manslaughter trial over his 2009 death
AFTER her former partner escaped jail and laughed as he left court over the death of Tyrell Cobb, mum Heidi Strbak will now face court.
GOLD Coast mother Heidi Strbak will face trial in three weeks’ time charged with the manslaughter of her four-year-old son who died after being allegedly found with 70 injuries on his body.
Tyrell Cobb died on May 24, 2009 in hospital after being found in his Gold Coast home unconscious.
Ms Strbak, 33, who is enlisted in the Australian Army, is set down to face a two-week trial in the Queensland Supreme Court.
Her former de facto partner Matthew Ian Anthony Scown was released from prison on Wednesday after pleading guilty to Tyrell’s manslaughter.
Tyrell Cobb was the son of Ms Strbak’s former partner, Jason Cobb and spent his early years in the NSW mining town of Lightning Ridge.
The boy moved with his mother to the Gold Coast and in 2009 lived with Ms Strbak and Scown — who had been together less than a year — in Runaway Bay and Biggera Waters.
Heidi Strbak’s trial for manslaughter is currently set to begin on November 6.
