Former TV star Matt Goyder has appeared in a Perth court charged with child exploitation offences.

Goyder was a contestant on the Channel 7 series Farmer Wants a Wife in 2016.

The West reported the 29-year-old appeared before Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday on charges of possessing and distributing child exploitation material.

He has entered no pleas on one count each of Distribute Child Exploitation Material and Possession of Child Abuse Material.

The Western Australian Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team alleges Goyder was in possession of and distributed child exploitation material between January and February this year.

Police officers allegedly searched an East Perth premises where they seized mobile phones and other electronic devices.

They allege child exploitation material was identified on some of the devices, and are currently conducting further analysis.

Goyder appeared in season nine of FWAW when he was living on a station in Western Australia’s Pilbara region near Marble Bar.

He was nicknamed “the Cottesloe cowboy” because he also sometimes resided in Perth’s swanky western suburbs.

The court heard Goyder, who is on bail, would be living at his parents’ City Beach home, however he was trying secure a place at the drug rehabilitation centre, Shalom House, The West reported.

In 2016, Goyder revealed he had become an ambassador for Lifeline.
