Details from will of alleged mushroom poisoning victim revealed
Heartbreaking new details have been revealed from the will of alleged mushroom poisoning victim Gail Patterson, a year after her death.
Sad details of alleged mushroom poison victim Gail Patterson’s will have been revealed for the first time.
Supreme Court documents show Gail’s husband Don Patterson, also an alleged mushroom poison victim, was the only beneficiary to his wife’s $200,000 estate, the Herald Sun reported.
But because of his death, her assets have been divided equally between their three sons – Simon, Matthew and Nathan Patterson, and their daughter Anna Terrington, meaning they will receive $50,000 each.
Last month, the four children were granted $650,000 each from their father’s 2.6 million estate.
Gail’s death certificate showed she died on August 4, 2023, one day before her husband. Because he did not survive her by 30 days, a clause in the will, it triggered a review from the Supreme Court.
Nothing was left to Simon Patterson’s estranged wife Erin Patterson, who was charged with the murder of Don, Gail and Gail’s sister Heather Wilkinson.
The three died after eating allegedly poisonous mushrooms in a beef wellington meal at a lunch at Erin Patterson’s home in Leongatha, 130kms south-east of Melbourne, on July 29 last year. The dish was allegedly cooked by Erin Patterson, and allegedly contained death cap mushrooms.
An inventory of Gail Patterson’s assets was listed in her will. This included $176,000 in shares, a $30,000 Kia wagon and a $5000 Holden wagon.
