Three of the four people accused of murdering Indigenous teen Cassius Turvey have now been charged in relation to the alleged kidnapping and assault of another 15-year-old boy just days earlier.

Cassius Turvey, a 15-year-old Noongar Yamatji boy, was allegedly chased and bashed with a metal pole on his walk home from school in the suburbs of Perth in October.

The 15-year-old died in hospital 10 days after the alleged assault. His death sparked an outpouring of grief and several rallies across the country.

Four people are charged with his murder. They are yet to enter pleas.

Now, Western Australia Police have announced three of those people have also been charged with the alleged kidnapping and assault of another 15-year-old-boy

Western Australia Police allege the boy was chased in the Swan View area — nearby to where Cassius was allegedly beaten — before he was caught and “allegedly punched, kicked and stabbed” at about 4.40pm on October 9 last year.

“It will be further alleged the boy was placed into a vehicle and taken to a house where he was detained for a period of time before being released,” police said.

The alleged incident occurred just four days before Cassius was allegedly attacked.

Jack Steven James Brearley, 21, Mitchell Colin Forth, 24, and Aleesha Louise Gilmore, 20, have been charged in relation to both incidents.

All three were charged with detaining another with intent to compel the doing of an act, and will face court at a later date.

Mr Brearley and Mr Forth are also charged with aggravated unlawful wounding.

Bellevue man Ethan Mackenzie, 18, is facing both charges and was refused bail to face Midland magistrates court on Wednesday. He has not been charged in relation to Cassius’s death.
