Coronavirus Australia live updates: Crowded SA trains spark outrage

A series of photographs showing Australian commuters packed into crowded trains today has ignited fears of a looming "second wave".

Damning pictures of Adelaide commuters crammed into packed trains during peak hour have caused anger just days after residents were promised better service.

While Australia is slowly easing coronavirus restrictions, the images have reignited fears of a potential "second wave" of COVID-19 cases.

According to SA Labor, "services ran half-hourly and we saw more scenes of overcrowding on trains this morning" despite residents being promised services every 15 minutes as recently as Friday.

Meanwhile, Australia has recorded a total 7056 cases of COVID-19, with 3076 in New South Wales, 1567 in Victoria, 1054 in Queensland, 439 in South Australia, 557 in Western Australia, 226 in Tasmania, 107 in the Australian Capital Territory and 30 in the Northern Territory. There are currently just 700 active Australian COVID-19 cases, while the death toll stands at 99.
