Coles has dropped the price of more grocery staples this week and is beefing up its bulk buy offering, in a win for supermarket shoppers.
Ten core items in the Coles Simply range have been reduced for at least 12 weeks.
They include lasagne, beef burgers, barbecue sausages, chicken burgers, tomato pasta sauce and hot dog rolls.
It comes after Coles last week cut the price of its own brand 1kg cheese blocks by $4.40 for a 12-week period.
Coles chief commercial officer Anna Croft said Coles was providing more savings for customers on food, drink and household products.
“Helping Australian families find a bit of savings in their weekly grocery shop is something we’re proud to have achieved,” she said.
“We know it’s a tough time for a lot of households, so being able to lower the prices on key staples ... will make a difference to our customers.”
The bulk buy range, known as Big Pack Value, includes more than 50 household products offering savings of between 50-80 per cent.
Varieties of Nescafe coffee sachets, Finish dishwasher tablets, Huggies nappies and Bonds jocks and now available in bulk packs.
It also includes a 50-pack of Duracell Coppertop AA batteries for $31, which will save shoppers 57 per cent compared to a regular 20-pack for $29.
“Our customers are increasingly looking for bigger value products that last longer and offer better savings, so we’ve worked closely with our suppliers to cover those bases with toiletries and household cleaning products, as well as the kinds of snacks that wind up in lunch boxes and are enjoyed by every family member,” Coles General Manager for Health and Home Deb Galle said.
“Our Big Pack Value range gives customers the opportunity to save anywhere up to 80 per cent on products they would normally buy. This is something we’re really proud to offer because we know that buying in bulk can help to make a real difference at the checkout and in the weeks following.”
