Bureau of Meterology issues severe weather warning for Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia
RESIDENTS in four states are being urged to brace for more wild weather after extreme winds ripped the roof off an apartment block and left 10,000 homes without power overnight.
RESIDENTS are being urged to batten down the hatches tonight with severe weather warnings for Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a second warning for Perth and other parts of Western Australia after severe winds lashed the area overnight, leaving 10,000 homes without power, tearing the roof off an apartment block and flipping a light plane.

The next bout of damaging winds are expected to hit the city at 5pm and cover areas in or between Mandurah, York, Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Bridgetown, Narrogin, Katanning, Albany and Esperance.
The front will bring gusts in excess of 125km/h and lead to “significant damage to homes and property” the BOM reports. Thunderstorms and hail area also possible with high tides and dangerous surf expected. Residents are being advised to stay inside away from windows and watch for hazards on the road.

South Australia will also suffer from gusts up to 100km/h as a front moves across the state.
The BOM’s current weather warning is for winds up to 90km an hour in Adelaide, the Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, and Lower and Eastern Eyre Peninsula.
Residents in the Yorke Peninsula, Kangaroo Island, Mid North, Upper South East, Lower South East and parts of the Murraylands districts are also being urged to stay inside as gusts could reach up to 100km an hour.
High winds are also expected overnight in Victoria in all districts except the Mallee and Northern Country. The Bureau of Meterology has warned winds up to 60km/h, with gusts to 90km/h, are forecast in the South West and Central districts, including Warrnambool, Ballarat, Geelong and Melbourne.
The State Emergency Service has advised people to secure or store loose items around the house and stay clear of fallen powerlines.
In Tasmania a cold front will bring rain and flood warnings have been issued with 30mm of rainfall expected over 24 hours. More is due in elevated areas. Residents should keep up with flood warnings at the SES website.
In New South Wales a cold front will bring high winds to the alps but there are no weather warnings for major cities. However commuters on the North Shore line will be frustrated by delays due to tree branches near Killara.

There are also no warnings for Queensland or the Northern Territory.
