The car made me speed: Sandilands
RADIO star Kyle Sandilands has come up with a not so novel excuse for why he was busted speeding - the car made him do it.
CONTROVERSIAL radio host Kyle Sandilands says his Range Rover made him break the speed limit.
"I just feel this is not my fault and I think Range Rover should take responsibility," he said on Tuesday.
Sandilands had just one point left on his licence when he was pulled over for speeding in Sydney's northern suburbs last month.
Talking about the incident the next day on his Kiis FM radio show Sandilands said: "I was flying. I thought I was still in Dubai."
But speaking on Kiis FM on Tuesday morning Sandilands said his car's electronic dashboard went dead, leaving him unable to read the speedometer.
He said when the dashboard went out he thought "I'm 10 minutes from home, I'll just follow the rest of the traffic, and drive home and then I got pulled over."
"I have lost points for speeding before, but I just feel this is not my fault."
"Range Rover have admitted a fault, that there is a fault with the coaxial cable in the dash and its going to take three weeks to fix.
"They don't even know what's wrong with it. It's a new glitch.
"Three Range Rovers have been fully immobilised, so they don't even start, cause they've tried to fix these things, so this is a real fault. A lot of people are dealing with it."
LandRover Australia has been contacted for comment.
