A former Swimming Australia staffer has been charged with multiple child sex offences alleged to have occured over an eight year period.

Swimming Australia has responded to allegations a Brisbane man, who worked as a swim staffer for eight years, has been charged with multiple child sex offences.

The 51-year-old man, who worked as a staffer between 2002 and 2010, was arrested at a business in Kelvin Grove and charged with three counts of indecent treatment of children under 16 and one count of sexual assault.

Swimming Australia spokesperson told NCA NewsWire that they are aware of the investigation but were unable to comment any further at this stage.

The man is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 9.

Queensland Police said the investigation was ongoing.
