A YOUNG teacher killed in the MH17 missile attack last week has been honoured with a traditional smoking ceremony in Arnhem Land where she worked.

MUCH-REVERED teacher Emma Bell, a victim of the MH17 downing, has been honoured in a private smoking ceremony in Arnhem Land.

MS Bell, who had just turned 30, was returning from a European holiday to the Northern Territory to begin the new school term this week at Maningrida College in the predominantly Aboriginal community of Maningrida, about 500km east of Darwin.
